Bad things happen. Newspapers, radio, TV, the internet are full of the gory details. I’m desensitised to it all, and while I occasionally donate to charity, I’m a long way off doing something really useful. But that picture of Aylan Kurdi’s tiny, lifeless body compelled me to try harder – specifically for those who have been displaced by war. And so, at the Cycle to Work breakfast, myself and Abbe Smith wondered aloud what we could do… the answer? #PlayingForCalais ! On Friday 25th September at the Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham (doors open at 7pm), we’re putting on an evening of live music, poetry, peace and love, with all proceeds going to Tearfund’s Refugee Crisis Fund and Unicef’s Syria Chilldren’s Emergency Appeal . We called the event #PlayingForCalais because Calais has come to represent the human reality of the aftermath of war and terror. We have an amazing line-up of perfomers and I guarantee you’ll have a great time
