Latest survey research from Arras People and TCC shows that the APMG Agile Project Management Foundation / Practitioner course is going to be one of the most sought after qualifications for 2013. Project Managers are firmly in the driving seat when it comes to deciding what training and development they pursue with 66% making that decision, whilst 32% are able to suggest training options but ultimately the decision lays elsewhere. Project Managers are also in the driving seat when it comes to choosing who they want to train with – 62% are able to make that choice with 29% able to influence the choice but not make the final call on it. The vast majority of Project Managers find their training providers through searches on the web – 45%, followed by personal recommendations at 32% and using preferred supplier lists for their organisation at 16% (although 70% of PMs don’t have to choose a supplier from this list) The most important factor for choosing a training provider is prehaps unsurprisely the quality and reputation of the provider (with 61% of project managers listing this as Very Important). Course availability and frequency comes in second with price third. So what do project managers want from their training providers? There were many suggestions from the practitioners who took part in the survey.
